I was required in Wales to attend a rookie orientation meeting to cover all things European Senior Tour.
One of the discussion points was the extensive media reach that the European Senior Tour has.
The European Senior Tour events are broadcast globally in more than 50 countries.
A highlights programme, produced by The European Tour’s television company European Tour Productions, is broadcast on the Tuesday immediately following a tournament reaching more than 135 million homes and is repeated twice.
Further coverage is given via European Tour Weekly, a dedicated weekly golf magazine that reaches 135 million homes worldwide, and Golfing World, a 60 minute programme broadcast five days a week, which has a reach of 390 million homes and the in-flight entertainment systems of 18 airlines.
A highlight package of coverage in North America is on The Golf Channel although the facilitator of the orientation meeting could not give a specific time that it was broadcast.
As you know there is also online coverage including live scoring, previews, news updates, tournament reports and features, image galleries and video highlights.
The breakdown of users for all of this: 29% UK, 26% Scandinavia, 24% Rest of Europe, 9% North America, 12% Rest of the World.
This past week the television coverage which is on Sky Sports in the UK was of the Acorn Jersey Open.
Some video clips of the final round from that program, pertaining to my play, are on the link attached below.
I played this final round with Mark Mouland who has been playing on the Champions Tour and the European Senior Tour the last few years and finished the event T-3 after our round.
A special thanks to my friend Emily Collins, who has caddied for me whenever I am near Newcastle, Manchester or Turnberry Scotland since 2011, for her help with this package in recording it from the television and of course Tyson Louth for putting it all together for the website.
